Is there a transmission oil filter in the MF135 transmission, and hydraulics, no mention of a filter in the IT Manual, if there is where is it located? Thanks for your help.

Transmission oil filter for the hydraulic pump, remove the round metal plate down by the drivers right foot, with a mirror, you will see the filter attached to the hydraulic pump, froward of the hole and inside, mine screws out of the pump with a wrench.
The transmission oil itself has to be changed if it gets milky white, this means the oil has absorbed a good quantity of water (condensation) which is bad for all the moving parts inside your gearbox. We use ordinary engine oil in the MF 135 transmission.

I used to have a c-20 which was the industrial version of this tractor, I think it had a cartridge filter or a brass screen type, on the suction end of the hyd pickup pipe, I think on the left side of the transmission, you have to remove an access panel on the tranny to get to it, if I remember right.

Peter The only cover by the drivers right foot on our MF135 is the Dreft response dashpot control cover, is this the cover you refer to.

The PTO lever and cover has to come off to access the suction strainer. It has a safety wire on it, or should, and it needs to be put back on. There should info in the archives on here. You should use Perma-Tran in your trans. and hyd.s and not regular engine oil. Dave

Hello
On the later 135`s in Europe, there will be a triangular plate on the underside of the trans, below the plate with the lever for the PTO. You have to drain fully and the plate has a protrusion, probably full of sludge. Through the hole the screen can be taken out. A bit confined space, but easier than through the sidecover with the PTO lever.
Good luck. Frema.Dk

As 135 Fan says below, plus there is a diagram (Fig. 297 page 91) of the I&T that shows it. Also be careful when putting the pto plate back on that the PTO lever is correctly positioned with the inside linkage. If it's not, your pto lever won't engage/disengage the pto. BTDT.

I'm talking 1985, 135, and yes thats the one.
Last time I did one, I lifted the whole top cover (with seat attached) and really got in there, but only because the customer asked to see what was inside there. Lowering the whole thing back down is a verry verry carefull job. a few levers to align with pump valve + tiny rollers and main preasure stand pipe, also the "control roller" which goes in after the whole thing is sat down. Some people are just never happy. Good luck with it, use a mirror and torch to look through the hole, you have to drain the trans oil to see it all.
