MF300 - Pull Start

Having an issue with my alternator/starter. Is it possible to simply pull start combine and pop clutch to start - has anyone ever tried it?

Gas engine I assume? We tried that many years ago when it was below zero and the starter wouldn"t get it going. The belts would slip instead of turning the engine when we pulled it (3rd gear) but in combination with the starter pullng it made it turn fast enough to start.

We pull started our 410 several times when we first got it do to wiring issues, we never had a problem just make sure you have brakes!

,, pull start and hill start mine often.... titen belts put it in 3rd , and pull it,, hopefully it is on the hi side of variable speed that will help ...

can be done but use a long chain, it can get up on the front wheels when you let out on the clutch depending what kind of header is on it making to hard to control, also the clutch might not release when it starts, freak thing but it happens, has happened a few times with me,300 got to where it would and wouldn't it was chaff built up in the clutch pulley,410 didn't release tried to push a pear tree with a corn head before i could shut off the engine when it stopped i pressed in the clutch it rolled away, never did find what caused it to hang, was coming along side a truck to unload turning to the right to line it up pressed the clutch kept on going clutch lining split an crossed up wouldn't release such things will make one weary of clutches
