I bought this 9n rear 8n eng in oct 08. The guy told me he started it in Sept. "ran but rough probably needs points and starter to run good" Took it home, tried it starter no go. Rebuild starter no comp. Pull head no sleeve in#2. Tear down crank ruined. Has to be ground to .060 on mains and rods. Is this acceptable.

Rusty.......sorry about yer bad luck. According to YT catalog, 0.060 undersize is as large as they go. Mains $55, Rods $45. Yer machine shop guy should know that too. And that is "acceptable". Sometimes finding 0.060 bearings can be difficult. ......Dell

Thank you, Dell for letting me know that .060 is o.k. The local "tractor mechanic" told me that there is no way a tractor crank could stand that much machining. I am only going bushog small deer plots once a year. And disc lightly. I will sleep better tonight. Probably dream up more ????? Questions for U.
