I am fortunate to have 3 phase power in my farm shop.
I have a Miller CP302 with wire feeder. It takes up alot of space in my shop and is more welder than I need. Thinking of selling it and buying this Millermatic 300 I found. The Millermatic 300 is an all-in-one MIG welding package.
It has the convenience, simplicity and physical size of the Millermatic 252, but uses three-phase input power for a super-smooth arc and higher weld capacity.
What do you welders think? Mark

If the welder you have is more than you need, the MM 300 is pretty much the same thing. What model of wire feeder do you have now? That could make a difference but other than swiching to an all-in-one machine, I don't think you'd be gaining anything. You could put the CP302 on wheels to move it around just like the MM 300 or put just the wire feeder on a cart. The CP302 is a good machine and have been made for years. I don't know how long the MM 300 was made for. I worked in a shop that had MM 350P's and similar Lincolns. The guys there said the Millers had a lot more problems than the Lincolns. I think the best thing to do would be to see if the MM 300 welds as nice as the CP302. You could also check reviews for the MM 300 on other websites. There may have been problems with them. If it cost you money to switch machines and you like the machine you have, why not just save your money? Dave

My CP302 is on a wheel kit. It is heavy. When I pull a large piece of equipment into the shop it is hard to get the 302 around it due to limited space. I don't like the fan running continuously and the MIG gun is bigger than I need. Mark

Put the wire feeder on a cart by itself and it will be more portable than the MM 300. The fan doesn't use a lot of power and you can get a smaller MIG gun. At least you know the fan is working. With a fan on demand system, how do you know if something isn't working? You could make a boom to hang the wire feeder from too. If your CP302 works good, why gamble on another used machine? Dave

I have a Miller with fan on demand. It drives me crazy! I swear at times when the fan comes on while I'm welding the arc changes just a tad. Could be my imagination, but I've had this machine for 4 1/2 years.

By know means I'm not a professional welder even though I got a job as one. I own a miilermatic 185 I've had for years. Does everything up to 3/8 easily.
Well anyways the place I work at has a cp300 & cp200 with remote wire feed with 45lb spools. The feed mechanism is so smooth. What a great set up and it's old and welded for years and years. If you like what you have make a little cart and get a remote wire feed. Unit at work I can roll wire unit around 30 ft. Just unroll the amount of leads the back for what you need.
