mini square bales

I was wondering if anyone knew how those mini bales, (about as big as a brick) are made. I was thinking of making some to sell at our holiday market.

I know the farm I used to work at bought a little hand powered machine. You had to tie the bales by hand, but it packed them using a big lever. I'm not sure where they got them from...but it was definitely a hand powered machine.

What good is a brick sized bale?Feed some rabbits?

I've wondered about the feasability of feeding them in a normal farm setting. They would dry down faster and be easier to handle maybe dump in haymow and not even stack . Maybe not as small as the decoration ones but half the size for those of us who ruined our backs on the regular size and for those who dont want to handle the regular size ones.

Go to external_link they have mini-balers. One is 4.5x6" and one 8x11". On their website implements then mini-baler. Good luck.

I am building a baler right now for wht you are wanting to do. they will be 4"x 6" x 10". It is a replica of the old hand tie stationary balers back in the day. Mine will be powered by 3/4 hp electric motor. I also have another unit that picked up on sale that someone tried to make. Don't know if it actually ever makde a bale but it could with some more mods. I would sell it if interested. I also make haloowen cubes from my regular baler and have for years they are 16x 16. here is another source balerman .com he has made some also. All the other unit usually just have a lever that you push no biggy. I wanted mine to be like the real thing so when we go to shows again it will draw a crowd and that makes it alot more fun. I hope to have it done by christmas. Been on it since Octorber in evenings. Let me know if you want to see it,wher you at,I have had alot of interest in this unit and have list of individuals who want to asee it make its first bale. My unit also has its own knives in it. No one else has ever done this that I have came across as they either trim with scissors or run thru table saw, sheep shears etc to trim them up. Late 50s/- JD came out with their first ejector- used bales about half the normal length- just set the bale arm real short.
