One of those Lo Boys would look right at home next to my 60s and 70s Cub Cadets! The nut without threads should be hanging along with another one from the draw bar behind the tractor, of course!

It goes on a 16” 1500# rated bolted piping flange or there abouts. Well at least that could be one application of a nut that size. If you look at the linked chart you will see a 24” 1500# takes 3 1/2” diameter studs!! and requires 16 of them. The Hydro-cracker unit for producing ultra-low sulfur diesel that was added to the refinery I work at about 10 years ago has many of these large high pressure flanges in it. The attached photo is probably about a 16” 300# and it probably has about 1 1/2” nuts. If grandpa’s “still” has piping that large in it he is cranking out some hootch!

As a retired Pipefitter/Pipewelder, I did many a shutdown at a Sun oil, Standard Oil, (later BP) refineries in the Toledo, Ohio area.

Some male readers might have had an "undescended testicle" when younger, not all that uncommon in young males. This might explain where it was or where it went.
