mlpankey: Parallel Hitch to the Ground

I have found that the hitch should be at the same angle as the chain is to the sled, straight line from the sled to the contact point on the tractor. JMHO

I don't think it makes any diffrence. how you angle the hitch. A tractor is made of steel. If you angle your loop down, it may help you to go straighter. mlpankey do I know you? I have the 435jd

Hi Doug, mEl here, How's everything up North? I also like these discussions and try to analyze the different points of view. You have seen many of my drawbar setups and I look at the drawbar in relation to the centerline of the rear axle. IMHO length and height are the issues that affect draft and the shortest legal length and max height should be used. I am still thinking about the drawbar being straight with the chain concept, but in the end you are still working the drawbar against the cl of the rear axle to transfer weight off the front end. I tend to think we overthink things sometimes. mEl

it doesnt require thinking that makes my head hurt . just requires being observant and taking notes on how the winners setup differs than mine yours who evers . im sure that the superstockers with the wedge frames thought a hitch pointed at the ground or sky was better they would do it.

mel i have wd that i didnt make the hitch for . witch is center rear axle bottom attachment and ceter back attachment where adjustments are made . always takes alot of nose weight to make any distance before getting up on the tip bars . my boys pull a d14 in farm stock with a snap coupler hitch . the draw bar lays across the bar extends behind the rear end for the height. draw bar is long. when walking beside tractor while boys pull it . me on the distributor side grandpaw on the carb side we were ammazed at how when the weight box came up it not only squats the rear tires but squats the front tires with the max air pressure in the fronts.it is parallel to the ground as you can get. dads looking into changing his hitch on his a now . as for the wd needs the new motor before ill alter it. knowing to weight the front works well with it.the only time the d14 trys toget up in the front is when it powers out or is running out of fuel .
