MM G1000 - confused

My son is looking at a MM G1000 and we are looking for some info
don't have a serial no. yet but owner thinks it was made in 66 or 68.
I find plenty of info here and in the internet - but it doesn't match what my son tells me.
Internet info says they came with 20.8x38 tires. Tractor has 15.5x38's on it.
Internet info says weighs 10,500lbs. IS THAT RIGHT??
Someone here on YT said they were pulling 6000lb class - Lot of difference there.
Going to look at it this weekend - but was concerned about discrepancy of info.

Thanks - Ken

They started making them in 65. I think up to 69. older ones had brown bottoms and the newer ones were all yellow. I think it should have 18.4-34 tires or 18.4-38's. the wheatland version has 23.1-30 tires on the rear. the weight you said should be close, depending on how it is weighted.

We wieghed our G 1000 once and it only came up to a little more than 7000 lbs. 10500 seems to be an awful lot to me.

never seen a G1000 with 20.8 - 38's on it. My wheatland has factory standard 18.4-34's and my brothers vista has 18.4-38's. There were a lot of tire and rim combo's. 15.5 -38's would not be that good of a tire for that much power or weight. all of our 50 series tractors are 18.4-38's,

I am pretty sure the 20.8 was not made at the time G1000's were but it can be done my buddy has a set on his. I seen a G1000 with 15.5's on it , not only looked funny but must be worthless. that enough tire for 60 hp not 100+. 6000 # ??? somebody knows how to strip I think.

There were several tire options available for the G1000. The 15.5 was available on the G900 but I think the 16.9 was the smallest you could order on the G1000. I'll have to double check the order sheets on that one though. 18.4-34 and 18.4-38 were the most popular tire choices for the G1000. 20.8-38's were not a factory option at that time but I've seen several G1000 with that size today. Weight should be right near 10,000 lbs so you'll need a good sized trailer to haul it. Don't pay attention to the pulling weights as field dressed weights will be significantly higher assuming this is a farming tractor you're going to look at.

Hard to believe that a farm "stock" G1000 weighs around 7000lbs. I can lead you to a M670 Super that is close to 10,000 (single whel weights on rear and 6 suitcase weights, no fluid) even with out them would be pushing 9000. They must have really stripped it down.

Ours is not for pulling unless its wagons or a disc. My brother took it to a stone corey to weigh a load of straw. Hopefully there scales werent of that bad. We'll have to take it up there again next time our nieghbors need straw.

Correction. G900 came with 15.5-38's but very few were actually shipped with this size. G1000 Row Crop came with 18.4-34 standard. Neither 15.5 nor 16.9-38's were optional on the G1000 Row Crop but the Vista could get 16.9-34's or 15.5-38's but very few were shipped with them. That would have to be a very odd setup.

Maybe tractor was set up for vegetable farming. I have seen puny tires (14.9 & 15.5 x 38's) on 8000 & 9000 Fords, 1855 & 1955 Olivers, even 4020 & 4320'S. Possible? Narrow row work?
