model 40 shifter

hello,can anyone tell me what a gear shifter part number M4284T might fit ,,i have a 40 with the bent gear shifter,very sloppy,they did a upgrade to a straight shaft shifter later on,,i have a heck of a time finding one used,,a john deere used parts store has this one with the part number above,but i can;t find what it came off of,,any info would be great thanks,,,

Use Google. It shows it fits a 430W

My 40 has that shifter as well as the tower quadrant, not original but was a satisfactory fix for the common 40 series shifter problem.

I"m sure the shifter M4284T won"t fit in your 40 by it"s self. You will have to change the cover that the shifter fits into as well. The cover would be M3958T which should include the shifting forks ,shifter cover and the shift lever. This is an easy and quick change over and should solve your problem.By the way the shifter M4284T fits 420/430 T,U,S,& W four speeds.

I have a model 40 that had the straight shift lever, and replaced it with a slant or bent lever. I may still have the straight shift lever with the cover and the forks all together. I will check the part numbers you list with what I have and let you know tomorrow.
