just overhauled engine including radiator cleaning and cleaning of block coolong system . after warming up engine temp goes up to 200 + degrees coolant does not boil and engine seems to run well, any sugesstions? what is normal temp under full load ?

The early ones always show running pretty hot. I think it has alot to do with where they placed the sensor. I had a '47 and it always showed over 212 but it never boiled.

That sounds about right.
A thermo-siphon system actually works better with a little more heat since there is no water pump to circulate the water.
Make certain your radiator level is where it should be. If it is low, there is not enough solution to spill over and circulate once it gets hot.

Make sure you premixed the solution prior to putting into the radiator...also, 60% H2O 40% antifreeze is a good ratio to start...[if you are further north, use to spec]

the 200+ temp question is always noted with the thermo-syphon system...as long as she doesn't boil, you should be good to go...

Good luck,
tstex

mostly green is correct. The sensor for the gauge is placed in a HOT area, so some of that heat is shown on the gauge. Our MT runs in the 200 area, but runs fine.

You aren't overheated by a long shot. Under a full load (hard plowing, disking) my M will sit on 225 all day long. The numbers don't mean anything. About all the temp guage is good for on an M is to let you know there's a problem when it changes from it's normal position whatever it may be.

My 51 M doesn't have a temp. gauge.
Where is it suppose to be - I'd like to get one.
Must have been an option???

temp g is located on the middle dash of the console..do you have any open holes there about 1.5" - 2" big? If not, what instruments do you see?
