Can someone explain the model numbers of JD disc like RW, RWA, KBA and other models do the letters mean something or is it the differ years they were made Thanks

Here's a KBA. The wheel carrier was an option without the carrier KBA was a drag type only disk.

Rw & RWA were rigid frame disk(non djustable disk gangs) with a built in weight pan.

BW & BWA had sq tubing frames with adjustable disk gangs.

There is also the AW. On most KBA, AW, RW, facing the rear of the disc, on the outside of the left rear gang frame, the width is stamped.

Another major diff. in BW & BWA disk's was BWA had a adjustable pivoting hitch , that attached back under disk frame , BW was straight out of frame , & adjusted at tongue, like RW... It made a big diff. in how straight & level disk pulled....

The nominal width is often stamped on the rear gangs. However, this is not always the actual width of the disk. For instance, an RW disk stamped as "10'" actually cuts 11'. I am not sure why they did that except at that time a 10' disk must have been pretty popular. Actual cutting widths went from 9'10" to 11'. As far as the difference between an RW and RWA, you can check this by the disk spacing. Older RW is 7 1/8" while the later RWA is 8 1/2" and often have ball bearings rather than white iron bearings.
