Moline Ampli-torque

MMG900

New User
Anyone know what kind of horsepower the ampli-torque will handle? I"m about half afraid to shift it while im pulling and under load. Thanks

I cannot speak for a 900 but I think it may be the same torc as a G1000. I think it is more about how they are used than what they will take. The pic you see on this forum of me and the 602...that tractor had the orig torc repaired at 9000 + hrs. It now has over 13,000 hrs on it. Trust me the tractor DID NOT have an easy life. It was over fueled and turbo'd for many yrs. My 1000 has been pulled at many local pulls and Dynos 145 hp with no Torc trouble

I wondered about shifting mine the first time on my M670 Super. I figured if I can pull the load it should be ok as that is what it was designed for. I agree with schrocky. So called "abuse" when cold I think did alot of them in earlier than normal. Hard to tell at first if the oil is warmed up enough with 80-90w.

I don't think you can hurt the torq shifting down but our experience was if you snapped it up fast as opposed to slowly dragging it up you could break tabs off the friction discs. When they're all broken off, no more high range. Dragging it up allows the discs to line up so all the drive tabs engage the clutch cage equally. We never had any trouble with the sprague ever but our rebuilds included an extra driven disc and friction dics. This was on an M602D that we operated for 13,000 hrs.

What kind of hp #s are you asking about? They will take quite bit of punishment, but as with anything, there limitations, call 920 295 3278 for more info, Dale
