Mosquito fogger

It getting to be bug season again. Anyone have any ideas for a mosquito fogger? I have a little hand held fogger but I think all that does is stir them up and make them mad. It isn't very good for a big area around the farm.

I've heard of some type of deal you can make to drip the fogger onto mower and vehicle manifolds and mufflers to make fog but not sure how they work. You some how have to atomize the stuff. Maybe it is a matter of wrapping copper tubing around a muffler to preheat the spray which is kinda how my handheld one works. I know some of the feedlots around here buy the repellant in bulk and mix it usually with diesel or kerosene. Maybe I could take an old mower that still runs and make a fogger out of it. Most of the mosquito stuff at walmart is a water based and won't make smoke on a hot surface. But there are sources around for the oil based chemical.

I´ve bought a Burgess electric handheld one that has coils around heating element and an oilcan type pump. I get oil-based insecticide mixed by a local exterminator company with diesel I take to them and it will flat wipe out mosquitos. As far as a large area, I think those pickup mounted units have tubing coiled around exhaust for heat with a pump to pressurize soulution thru a nozzle. Above mentioned local exterminator company has a gasoline handheld thermal fogger that really puts out the fog. Has a 2 cycle gasoline engine (piston against a spring, no crankshaft) that pressurizes solution and heats with exhaust.

I bought a hand-held unit from Home Depot. Looks like a leaf-blower, it works on propane and it works so good my neighbor borrowed it and hides it from me.

I'm not a tree hugger, but have found a natural approach that has been real close to 100% effective for the last 10 years. We have an open rain barrel at each downspout and a small "pond" about a meter sq in the back yard that are real nice places for them to lay eggs and hatch larvae. Put a couple of goldfish in each that takes care of anything in the water, then have plenty of bats and swallows that wipe out the flying ones. Took a year or so to attract the birds in any number, but there is more than enough now. Also have an owl box and a nest for some little hawks about the size of Cooper's Hawks in the gables of the barn that has a family in each that keeps rats and most of the mice under control.

we used to have the one that ran off the lawn mower muffler. had a small tank with a shut off valve, a length of hose 3/16 diameter i think, and a fitting that you drill a hole in the muffler and it screwed in. worked real good. the liquid doesnt need to vaporize, just drip into the muffler, the exhaust temp would make the smoke. i have a propane fogger now, just take it with on the mower and fog around.
