Mounted Cultivator

I would like to find a mounted cultivator to fit a UB. I don't know if they fit any other tractors but I would guess probably a U and maybe even a Z would fit. I would like to find something within 50 to 75 miles of Champaign, IL due to the price of gas but I would consider something farther away. I know nothing about a mounted cultivator but my grandpa had one on his UB so I would like to find one for mine even though I know most have been dug out of fence rows and hauled to the junkers. Thanks guys!

I don't think the JX cultivator will fit an R. No place on the axle for the rear of the frames to mount.

I think the front frames would fit the UB, but the braces that mount up in front of the radiator would have to be lengthened.(Probably enough rod, just turn the nuts.) The rear bar would use a different mount that would bolt on the UB axles.

The lift rods would be longer for the UB too.

I will do some research to see if I can make it fit and then I will get back in touch with you. I might come and look at it when we finish with harvest. I farm with my dad just north of Toledo so it wouldn't be more than a 45 minute drive over your way. Thanks I will get in touch.

From reading an old post someone wrote that a model CQ cultivator would be the correct one for the UB. Anybody know if that's right? I will still look into the ZX.

Yes that was the CQ model for the U and UB. I have one to sell but Im in MN. The main differences were a heavier frame on the CQ than on the JX (brace to axle was solid steel-JX used square tubing and front square tube was heavier).

The cultivator gangs were all the same, But the frames were different. An R cultivator fit only an R. Z cult. fit J-Z-ZA-ZB. Ucult. fit MTA-U-UB-UBspecial. The frame is longer for a U. I have seen some frames extended on a Z cult to fit a U. And of course the brackets on the tractor are different. I have culitators to fit both, and a ton of cult brackets and parts.
Am located in northeran ILL.

Try calling Shaff Implement, Urbana, IL. 217-469-7113. Ask for Norman. Shaff is an AGCO dealer which started as a Minnie-Mo dealer many years ago. Norman may know where a cultivator such as you want may be laying around. Good luck.
