Mouse traps

We’re trying to one of those 5 gallon bucket traps. How successful have any of you guys been using them????

If you are after mice, ebay has a black plastic new design trap that's a winner. Easy to set without getting whacked and a sure fire mouse whacker.....box of 8 for less than 10 bucks.

They will work if done correctly. Myself I find poison bait works longer and the old adage a trap only gets one mouse and it is out of service.

Works great. I use RV antifreeze in bucket. Will preserve the dead ones for an extra day or 2 better than water in case you can't get to it right away. Mine is homemade, but all are the same principle. Can catch multiple critters without reset.

I'm quite happy with the old standard 'Victor' traps. Can't beat them on price, and effectiveness. Sometimes the mice do win and get the cheese, but eventually their luck runs out and bam. More effective than a cat.

My home made one works great. I use water with a bit of liquid soap and they drown just the same with no threat to my pets.

I tried some bucket ones, not as good as I was hoping for.I use the electric traps.Dab a little peanut butter inside, close the lid,and hit the switch. You will hear the batteries charging up the capacitor. There are 2 little metal plates on the floor inside,The mouse heads for the peanut butter, walks over the first plate, and when his front legs hit the second plate with his back legs still on the first plate he becomes a conductor.A light will blink after the capacitor has been discharged.I have taken to putting a rubber band around the whole thing. The top opens up to shake the mouse out.It has a couple of diverters in there,so he can't go straight in or back straight out.Trying to wiggle around those diverters will make the mouse hunch up a little, and when he does he can pop the lid up a little. That kills the power.I've bought them at different places over the years, but Tractor supply has them right here in town.

They are ok but the new plastic ones make it harder for the mouse to get the bait without getting caught.

There’s a thought I had been looking for something that wouldn’t freeze out in the shed rv antifreeze would be safer than the real thing

I use them in the house. Use Tom Kat outside. Put it out and you can stop when it quits disappearing. Problem solved.

I have three buckets with regular antifreeze in them. No pets around. Here it does get below zero and rv antifreeze will get slushy so the mouse just stays in the bucket. I use a beer or soda can with a ribbon of peanut butter around the can. That system works good.

Plays H### with the wildlife, though, unless you now have none.

My mouse traps are Pandora and Tigger! Used to have Sugar and Spicy, but Sugar probably got run over somewhere. She tended to wander afar. Spicy was the one that got shot, and is now an indoor cat. No mice issues here.

And the dogs get the voles/moles in the fenced yard. Cats get them elsewhere in the non-fenced yard.

I made a few of the tilting bottle type. The mouse is trapped & still alive. My dog goes nuts when he sees the mouse in there!

If I had such a thing and no I don't google my cats would go nuts. I almost caught one today after I had sealed some of the areas they where getting in with that spray foam unsulation
