mower options?

I would like to mow with my 44b, I have aftermarket 3 pt with powertrol. You see alot of farmalls with belly mowers but not many 2cyl. Opinions and advice? Currently mowing 5 acres with 2 riders, not a golf course, I don't water, fertilize, or none of that. Just like to keep it mowed and trimmed. Belly mowers seem to go cheaper. Will be mowing every weekend here real soon.

We use a combination of Bush Hog ATH/FTH 720s (6ft) and Bush Hog ATH/FTH 600s (5ft) to mow.

Use the 720s on the Model As and Model 70s.

The photo below is a Bush Hog FTH 720 on "52" our 52A.

We now use an FTH 600 on the 51M.

We bought another Bush Hog FTH 600 two weeks ago to mow the pasture in Hutchins.

Any type/brand finishing mower should do a good job behind your 44B; just don't let the grass get too high between mowings.

I think you will be fine with a Woods 72" finish mower on the 3-Point..
Belly mowers are not quite as handy as you may think..!!

Sorry for the delayed response.

The key to success is not letting the grass get too high.

Little M tractor really had no problems driving the 720 mower.

Just mowed the yard and around some trees near the house.

Last December Nancy used the M to mow part of the hay meadow; grass was dead and not very tall.

Same is true now with the 600 mower; just don't let the grass get too high between mowings.

Thought of a totally different response.

The M has an aftermarket 3 point hitch installed.

The top link is not used since we do not lift the mower off the ground.

Hope both responses to your question helps.

I have an MT and a 720 mower. I can't even imagine trying to mow with that combination. The grass would have to be almost dead and pretty short for that to work at all. You'll want at least 30 hp minimum on that mower. I use it behind my A and it will work it pretty hard. A John Deere B will probably get along with a 5 foot finish mower just fine.
