Mower runs but won't move

O.k., I admit it, I know nothing about mowers. But here's my problem. My Craftsman LT 4000 had a briar branch caught under the mower deck. Before I could get it pulled out, the mower stopped moving. I turned off the mower, pulled out the branch, restarted the mower, put it in gear, and ... nothing. It won't move. I have no manual for the mower, so I don't even know what to look for underneath to see if something is broken, disconnected, etc.

maybe the transmission belt came off a pully.

Do you know where I can find a picture of how it's supposed to look? The model is 917257551.

go to sears.com and click on parts, go from there

If drive belt between eng & trans not off or broken,jack up rear of tractor & pull rear wheels check that shaft keys that tie wheel to axle aren't sheared or missing,if either key sheared or missing,tractor will not move-goto www.searspartsdirect.com,enter tractor mod#,look at assembly drawings of tractor(drive)also at end of all parts list owners manual listed($5)
