Mr Dunk...a question about blowers!

What do you know or think about a smog pump blower on an N
series engine? I know they have been installed on briggs engines. I
remember something about a 454 big block smog pump being
used. Hope I didn't just dream all this up one night.

JEFLEF,The smog pump blower from a 454 big block chevy will work for a single cylinder Brigs,Kohler ect.But its not big enough to do ant good on a N 4 cylinder.

Thanks for the info, Den. Sounds like the only practical way is a turbo. Actually wet NOS would work but, very expensive and the poor engine would come apart. I'm not actually going to do this...I think, but I was curious. The topic came up on another board about the header and what power difference that would make. I've always heard it was basically $400.00 worth of noise.

JEFLEF,I think that you are right in thinking that the poor engine would come apart on nitrous. The rods, crankshaft and mains would be way to weak to handle NOS. And if that header makes more HP than noise, with so little CFM flow @2200 RPMs.I would like to see the dyno results.@ $400.I don't think so.

Bingo!

The N dual exhaust is cute but any power increase would be unnoticeable and likely unmeasureable.

I beg to differ. I have the crossover manifold/header system on my 2N and it has made a noticable difference in power. I make this statement based on using tractor for like tasks both before and after installing header/crossover manifold.
i think perhaps that this system would only have much effect on an engine that was in excellent running order at the time.

Sorry, Bob but you will not convince me of that. I've been doing this much too long.
