MW Injection pumps

What is the std injection pump timing on these 466s equipped with these pumps. Does that mw pump have a timing advance built into them?? I am sitting at 28 degrees on the flywheel. And seems to run fine but looking for more info. Thanks

Bosch MW pumps have no advance, but some do have retard start notch plungers for easier starting. Notch is only used at full rack travel, and timing will be retarded anywhere from 5 to 15 crankshaft degrees depending on how deep the notch is cut into plunger top. Example, 28 BTDC running timing pump may be 15 BDTC if the notch is cut at 13 degrees. After engine starts timing returns to 28. Hope this helps.

Ok. Ya that helps. So What would you think a decent timing number would be to run this thing at then. I think I am at 28 right now and it dont miss or anything it just wet stacks a bit when idling for a while. No excessive smoke or no missing just a bit of unburnt fuel drips out of manifold when idling for like 10 min or so when warm. Everything else is great other than that. It is on a farm tractor

Diesels at idle have a much cooler exhaust temp than a gas engine does, and are more apt to wet stack. You might try a timing change 2 to 4 degrees either way and see if it helps. Advance may help, but it may start harder too. Most newer diesels are running less timing than they used to. Some Cummins are in the 14 to 16 degree range BTDC, depending on RPM range of engine. If it clears up after heat from placing a load on it and thermostat is working OK I would say run it.
