My 2 stroke chainsaw will only run on a High Idle, can"t get it to idle down so the blade keeps moving. Tried the idle screw still doesn"t idle down. Any suggestons.

Sounds like you have a dirt problem . Best get a carb kit & rebuild it , or get another carb . HTH ! God bless

When you say it will only run fast, do you mean that it"s "stuck" at wot, or it just dies when you let off the throttle? If its the first you have some sort of blockage or something on the carb or throttle linkage might be stuck. If it"s the later, you need to clean the carb (happens to me all the time with the new crappy gas they are sellin these days). I use carb cleaner and a air gun to clean em out. Depending on how old the saw is, you might or might not actually need a rebuild kit. Sometimes when you pull them apart and they are old the rubber sticks and ends up ruined. I like the site below, lots of good info espeacially on old stuff, not that it would interest anyone on this site ;)

There is a leak in the crankcase pressure pulse circuit that operates the fuel pump diaphragm. At higher RPM there is enough pulse to drive the pump diaphragm but at low RPM the pulse is to weak. The circuit is sometimes an external rubber hose and other times it is an internal circuit through the base of the carb and into the crankcase. The internal circuit is evidenced by the separate small hole in the carb to crankcase gasket.
