Going to tomorrow for a neauclear stress test. My heart has been acting up since the night before Thanksgiving day. Skipping and acting up. Not supposed to do that. It's just supposed to do it's job and not get my attention. Been taking a BETA blocker for about two weeks but can't tell it's helping. Seen two doctors and they are still studying ???? Maybe this test will figure out something that will be treatable.
I had an Abdominal Aortic Anurysm and patch job about 18 years or ago. Cut from breast bone to pubic bone and gutted like a hog. Keep wondering if it is somehow connected to the patch job ?????

I wish the best fer'ya... get it fixed fer external_link care kicks in...

My wife's cancer was diagnosed today as in remission... No more chemo for the time being...

Zane,

Our lead equipment mech. at my primary orchrd account is having the same problems. They now have him pretty stablized now.

The management at the orchard has to realize that all of his primary people are now reaching 70 plus. Trouble is no younger people want OUR JOBS.

Take care.
John

If the stress test doesn't turn up anything a holter monitor maybe useful. It records your heart activity for 24 to 48 hours and most have a button to tag the time when you feel the skipped beats.

You will be in our prayers.
We have had several close friends with the same situation, and all of them came out great !
Modern medicine especially for the heart is really something.
God Bless You !

That sounds really good..My Mom went yesterday for her second chemo treatment-they are saying the blood work looks really good at this point.

Zane - I wish you the best and hope the procedure gives them the info they need to prescribe the right treatment.

Hobo - That is awesome news!! And I'm sure you'll start sleeping better after hearing it.

Praying for you!

my mother had similar irregular heart activity following a severe head on car crash 2 yrs ago with no decipherable cause. They installed a pace maker and she goes on without a hitch. Now works out and walks a couple miles a day at age 78. Good luck with the diagnosis.

Good on you that you went to the Dr, Zane and didn"t ignore it. My mother-in-law went blind in one eye and didn"t tell anyone FOR A YEAR ... then claimed it was stress and was angry at the Dr when he said that it was macular degneration and nothing he could do. Now, she"s basically blind. Fear and stubbornness don"t make a long life easy.

We"ll keep you in our prayers.

Good Luck Zane! My mom has similar symptons for a few months they popped in a pacemaker in outpatient surgery and she felt better the next day. Hope it's that easy for you.

Zane,
Sounds like you are doing what you have to do, not ignoring the symptoms. Ten years ago I had quadruple by pass heart surgery at 53 years old. I didn't even consider I could have such a problem, but did what I was told and every day is a good day!
One choice I made when having the work done was to go to the best hospital within 200 miles. It was a choice that has paid off to this day.
The medical field has learned a lot in the past 18 years and I am sure they will resolve your problem!

good luck.

I was in your shoes at thanksgiving 2010. was wearing a halter monitor walking around feeling sick watching otehrs eat.

still here and kicking.

best of luck to ya.

if your triglycerides are high.. get em down!

Good luck, proud owner of a stent as of last March at age 48. By the failed the Nuke stress test, did ok on ramp up and maintain but bombed on recovery time

Zane, I will pray for you. Don't be afraid of doctors. They have been good to me. Only thing I worry about is germs hospitals. Doctors knowledge has come a long ways in 30 years. TJ

Great news Hobo. I've been wondering and hoping that she was going to get well of this thing.

We live in a world full of demons just waiting for a chink in our armor to dig in.

Good luck, Zane

That AAA is what killed my Dad - I have observed a number of autopsys in the past and have seen where the main Arteries run down the front of the spine and into each leg - they are big and the only way to get to them is from the front like that - when they burst that is pretty much it in many cases - ironically a letter came through the main 2 weeks after dad died recommending that he go in for a test....probably would be alive today if he had done that.

Best wishes and good luck.

Hang in there Zane. The docs will get you fixed up soon. A good buddy (72) had the same problem about 6 months ago. Took the docs 3 tries but they got him fixed just fine. He just finished cutting up 2 cords of wood.

The skipping doesn't sound like a connection to the AAA. It sounds more like an "ignition" problem.

If the doctors install an Electronic Ignition in you, we'll still let you hang around with us, even though you will be in the Modified Division.

Whatever it takes to keep you running!

I'm enjoying the "Thang" on my 2N, and haven't yet used the adjustment jig on my 8N, since it is waiting for me to finish building my shop.

Lost my older brother to a final major heart attack. My dad went same way. Younger brother blew his aorta. Had to get patch and 1 new valve.I had to get checked out to make sure I didn't have same problems. I dodged that one. Good luck and stay well.

Had the so called neuclear stress test today. Took about 2 hours to jump through all the hoops. First thing was a resting stress test where they did an EKG resting then they injected something to make my heart speed up. Then they injected the radioactive stuff and sent me to the Xray thingy where I had to lie still for 15 minutes on my stomach while it moved in incrememts over my chest area. Then back to the waiting room and then back to the pictuere taker again for 15 more minutes on my stomach. The back to the girls with the injections, then back to the picture taking for five minutes on my back.

They said, "that's it" and showed me the door. Don't know when I'll hear any results. Mass production!

Zane

I hope all will turn out well for you. I tell you, I don't think I could lay on my stomach for 15 mintues. My back would be killing me. TJ

I did all this testing because of unusual heart palpatitations and pounding heart beats etc.

Got a call from the doctor's office and all the woman said that there were no changes from the last tests and all was well. I asked her about the irregular heart beats etc and she said there was no mention of that in the test results.

So where do I go from here? Three visitts to B'ham to doctors and testing and still don't know anymore than I did to start about the heart rythem??????

Shoot!

Zane, I'm not a doctor, but a Paramedic. Some "unusual palpitations and heart beats" are dangerous and some are not...as you probably already know. Some of them will tend to straighten out under demand and not show when being tested. Some folks can get them simply with coffee or smoking or even emotional highs and lows. But some arrhythmias (the medical term) are deadly if they go untreated. I would call the heart doc back and ask if they can prescribe a Holter monitor because you are feeling palpitations or stumbles in your heart rate. You wear it while you go about your normal activity and it records your heart activity. They can read that later and go from there. If the doc or specialist isn't interested, find another one. Hopefully it is benign. Mine were and may are.

Sorry for mistype...MANY are benign. If any consolation the really bad ones [i:85095c0be7]typically[/i:85095c0be7] show more or increase with stress testing. But, don't simply bet your life on it.
