My new B is a C

Turns out, the new project tractor isn't a B. I started doing a little research & making a list of what I need & I found my serial # C35641. I believe, this makes it a 1945. I put a battery in it, after cleaning the inside of the cap out, I've got spark....compression is good on all 4 cylinders. I've never seen a steering set-up like this rig has, seems to be very sloppy, is there a way to adjust those boxes? So, for $400, I still think I did good. From going through some old posts though, seems most folks are too keen on these models C's eh?

I have 4 of them on the place. @ are good running little tractors and the other 2 are parts tractors. So if you find you need some parts I may have what you need.

The C is notorious for sloppy steering. The problem can be in the steering gear, worn loose rubber in the drag link, worn gears in the pedestal, or any combination of these. Check the pedestal by jacking the front end off the floor and wobbling the wheels by hand. Do the front wheels wobble while the arm above the pedestal remains stationary? This is the least likely of the three factors listed above. The drag link is the most likely. If the steering gear is loose, it may be easier to buy a good tight replacement than try to fix a loose one. If rubber in the drag link is loose, here's a fix somebody suggested to me: "I have used 3M Window-weld super fast urethane calk/adhesive. It's used to install windshields and you can get it at auto parts stores. I used it on tie-rod ends and drag link and it has held up for a couple years. I drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the back side of the joint and injected the stuff until it oozed out around the stud. Let it cure a few days and trim off the excess."
