Okay, I have crossed over and tried this new generation thing. for the last six years, i"ve been a die hard two cylinder lover. just picked up a 1961 3010 diesel today for a fair price, and man am i spoiled. power steering, syncro trans, real three point w/toplink, lights, fenders,fuel gauge, three different pto"s and a set of remotes and the only thing that is hand start is turning the key. too bad i can"t afford to keep it unless i sell a two banger off. just interested to hear from some other members of who has actually tried out the new gen stuff and felt like a kid in the candy store? Don"t worry, two slugs is all i"ll ever love, but now how do i get rid of the spoiled feeling ?

Yes I also have a 61 , 3010 diesel, except mine is a one owner bought right here where I live, now Im the second owner, It came with a single front, no fenders , has a light bar like the two cyclinders,first time Ive ever seen one like this. It wasnt for sale but it started knocking and they ask me if I still wanted to buy it, I said yes , got a good deal, got it home took the value cover off to start trying to find what was wrong, and there it was, the rocker arm assembly bolts had came out, thighten them up, set the values and runs like a new one,got all the leaks fixed and painted , plan on keeping it for awhile.

After owning a 4020 for a little more than a decade, the two cylinders rarely work. It's just too convenient to have all those luxirious doodads.

I wish I hadn't sat on that 2005 5420 tractor...

Yea I am with ya! After plowing and disking with the 80 it is a relief to the shoulders plant with the 3010, two finger steering! Ya know you don't really steer that 80 with a 14 foot tandum behind it dualled up in fresh plowing , you just kind of guide it from where it wants to go to where you want it to go!! Dan

??? I got a 630 it has power steering , real three point hitch , float ride seat. And I will tell you I would rather use it then my 3020.

Get rid of that spoiled feeling? No way. Enjoy it. I grew up on a 50. I have a 2520 and 4020. The only two cyl. on the farm is the lawnmower.

Think of yourself as reliving history. When Deere announced the end of two cylinder production farmers who loved them howled......... until they started using the New Generation tractors.

I went the other way - I grew up with the straight 4 and 6 cylinders - now I hate them - I discovered 2 cylinders 20 years ago - my only concern now is how long can I keep them going before I have to go back to that which I hate.

If you really want spoiled go try out whatever the latest and greatest Deere has to offer !

I still love my 2 cylinders , but man oh man these new tractors sure are operator comfort. Like sitting in an easy chair. Even air conditioning and you can even get one that guides itself. You just sit back and ride along.

Been more than once I planned to use the 730, sat in the seat and looked over at the 4020, got down and used the 4020 instead. The 730 is great if you"re using it as intended - working it in the field all day. But when you have smaller areas to work in, it"s pretty clumsy and makes the 4020 feel pretty nimble.
