I am going through the differential and rear end on my NAA ford. The pinion has some chipped teeth so I would like to do something with it. I can purchase a new aftermarket pinion, replace the pinion with a used one, or replace both the ring gear and pinion with a used one. I am looking for input from the experts as to which is the best route to go.

Thanks for any advice.

if I were fixing a road vehicle.. I'd repalce the R&P as a set.

in a tractor.. I'd have no qualms about replacing either with a good used one... have seen it done more times than I can count.. machines still running around today.

I'm with Soundguy - If the ring gear is good, I'd replace it with a used OEM pinion and never look back.

I have several used N-series pinions, but I may have a stray NAA pinion also. I'll have to look.
