NAA PTO Type??

Just bought a NAA and not sure if this is one of the "rare" models with a "live PTO", can someone help me determine? I think the serial number is NAA4G415 "diamond" (best I can read). Tractor has a unique lever mounted to the front, left side of tranny case (this is not the PTO engage lever, which is mounted on the left rear of said case). Reviewing pics of other NAA's: internet, owners manual, parts catalog, shop manual, I don't find this lever. Previous owner did not know what it was for and said prior owner told him to leave it alone. Does anyone know what this is and how it is intended to operate?

The NAA PTO shifter lever is mounted on the left side of the rear center housing and the live PTO lever is mounted just forward of it - not on the transmission. Now if the levers you are describing are actually on the center housing and they look like this then yes - you have a live PTO tractor.

Thanks for the diagrams, this indicates that I don't have the Live PTO, but I'm still wondering what this level is used for - I've attached a couple of pictures to help clarify. It is the unpainted lever just in front of the left pitman arm. Any ideas? Warning to those of you that are purist - one of the prior owners decided that this NAA would look better painted in Ford Blue.

Most likely the lever on the tranny is for a Sherman combination tranny. Gives you 12 forward gears and 3 reverse. Great feature!
Dunno what the doohicky lever on the clutch is for.
Blue tractors run better.

Thanks for the ID! Anyone have any documentation that could be posted similar to the first picture/diagram? Or guidance on where to research the operation?

Google Sherman over under or sherman combination and you will get many hits. oldfordtractor.com/sherman or something similar has lots of info including shift pattern. Remember to use clutch when moving Sherman lever. If it is working, it is a nice addition and sure helps control ground speeds, especially helpful when running implements off pto.

Thanks for the link. After checking it out and then testing the tractor, this is the "Sherman Special Purpose Creeper" version. Beneath the blue paint, I think I can see specs of gold paint, and I can't get the shifter to slide out or in. The shift lever moves only forward one movement and then back to the neutral position. In forward step down position, speeds are significantly reduced in all four forward speeds, 1st gear is a snail crawl! It appears to work perfectly! But how do you service this thing, the diagram appears to be a separate case inside the transmission housing. How do you service in the internal housing?

Sounds like you have an under drive unit. It also slows the PTO speed down a good bit which can cause problems with some equipment. I have a combo on my 841 which gives me 12 forward gears.
As for doing any service to it the fluid from the tarnny is shared with the 2 of them so when you change the tranny oil you also chage the aux tranny oil at the same time

any sherman cannot be serviced except by removing the engine. The creeper is 9 times slower than normal. i have parts

That other lever looks to be a home made "Clutch Pedal Lock Down Doohickey". A previous owner must have had trouble with a sticking clutch disc on a regular basis so he designed and fabbed up that lock.

i wonder if the radious has been cut to have a loader, or if maby to turn sharper? im new, and have never seen this done

This was on my Jubilee when I got it, replaced front axle and radius rods. PO modified them to allow for a narrower front wheel width to match the loader bucket. JB
