What is the Napa Echlin part number for the 6volt regulator? It goes on one of my 52 8ns. The Chinese one is sticking open. Thanks much.

NDG;
"A" circuit Echlin v/r 6vlt.= NAPA part# VR-950

"B" circuit Echlin v/r 6vlt = NAPA part# VR-951

When ya go to get one, ask to see the book listing to ensure the right cicuit. They do not have a clue (most of the time) as to what circuit goes on which charging system.
BTW: open the box to check for the spade connections line up.
"A" circuit = Bat.-Arm.- Field
"B" circuit = Bat.-Field- Arm.

How do you know which circuit (A or B) you have/need for your particular tractor. I've never seen this designation before.

The "A"-type circuit was used by Delco Remy and Autolite in standard duty systems. It grounds the field coils through the voltage regulator. The "B"-type circuit was used by Ford and on some heavy-duty Autolite applications. It grounded the field coils internally, within the generator.

If you don't know which one you've got, you can remove the generator field terminal and connect a voltmeter between it and ground. With the engine running at moderate speed, you'll get a voltage reading with an "A"-type circuit, but no voltage with a "B" circuit. (Don't let the field terminal or the voltmeter leads contact ground. That might ruin your generator.)

Another way to tell the difference is to inspect the generator's brush connections. If the field coil lead is connected to a brush that is insulated from ground, it's an "A" circuit, while if the brush is grounded, it's a "B".
