narrow front snow plow

i want to put a snow plow on my wd. I found some pictures online of a wd narrow front with a snow plow. Has anyone used a set up like this before? personally i would make it wider so the wheels could turn completely. I've never posted pictures before so hopefully this works.

Looks home-made, kinda cobbled up. Meyer snowplows made a frame for AC tractors, that hooked up a meyers blade, and front pickup mechanism, similar to the hookup that would go on a jeep, or truck. Difference, is that the blade support is connected to the rear end of the tractor, at the final drive casting, so the rear (heaviest casting) is doing the pushing. If I can find a picture, I'll post back.

Here is an original set-up on a B. Wd would be similar, when dealing with NF, you make the rack wider, to accommodate the wheels. Note there are 4 other pictures, in the gallery, search implements, for snow plow. Meyers frame is similar to this set-up.

My B has a front hydraulic lift that was used with a V snow plow. The plow push and pivot mechanism consisted of angle iron going back to the rear drawbar. Two such angles ran from the drawbar to in front of the front wheels. They ran under the front axle and were supported in the front by other angles going up to the front lift mechanism. Details of the lift are shown here. You might be able to get some ideas from that and adapt to your WD.

thanks for your input. My 4 wheeler with a plow just isnt cutting it for clearing the driveway this year. a plow on the tractor would be nice. i think it would be cheaper for me to make a snow plow mount on the front rather than making a 3 point so i can use a back blade with the tractor.

I"ll second that motion Ted!!
I"m afraid the weight and power of a WD would bend it up in a hurry unless it was used very, very "gently".

actually, that"s a picture of my wd with plow last year after i lost the one front wheel. i bought that wd with that set up already on it, and used it for the last 7 or 8 years to plow snow at my business. its made out of very heavy angle iron and pushed a lot of snow without bending. whoever made it did a good job in that respect. the only thing i don"t like about it is that you can"t turn it very sharp. i would have made the frame a bit wider. most of the time though its not an issue. the brakes on the tractor are very good and i just got accustomed to steering with the brakes.

the bottom angle iron that takes all the abuse is 5/16. i think what has some folks confused is the lighter angle iron on top. that just is the lift setup and doesn't take the abuse of pushing snow.
