Starting tractor for the first time I didn"t have spark. I"ve got that now. It"s a 55 960 gas with a TSX 593 Marvel Schrebler carb. But it"s very hard to start it and keep it running now. If I let it sit (air cleaner off), wipe the extra fuel from the carb opening, I can choke it and get it to start for few seconds and it runs smooth for those few seconds. I don"t think the distributor is installed wrong and I don"t think it"s position(timing) is too far off. I"m thinking my problem is in the carb. First let me say that the I&T manual is severly lacking in many are including the carb - no reasonable description of the the adjustment and no diagram of the various parts. There are three adjustments that I see, the idle speed screw on the linkage, what looks like a small idle mixture screw, and finally a large brass knob near the fuel inlet. I"m not sure what that big one is. Is it just a max fuel adjustment or something. What should the initial setting of the idle mixture and the big knob be? What"s the proper way to adjust them when running? Has anyone written any better manual on these tractors? Thanks, Brad
