My old JD 2020 fuel cutoff solenoid is on the left. The part JD sold me is on the right, it obviously doesn't fit. I'm trying to find a needle valve to replace the solenoid. Any help is appreciated.

Kent,

Did you contact Zenith fuel systems, as I suggested in a reply to your other post on the DEERE Board?

If they can't help you with what you need, and no one else has a quick solution, email me.

Take it back. The one that I got for my 1020 was right when the electric one took a crap.

Notice DEERE parts shows two different setups, the one has the needle AND main jet as part of the solenoid:

The solenoid and the replacement needle you have are for the OTHER version, where the main jet remains in the carburetor, and the needle tip STICKS OUT OF the solenoid.

The part number you have for the solenoid, RE19408, and the part number you have for the manual adjustment kit, RE19406, apply to the LOWER drawing.

The DEERE part # for the solenoid you NEED is AR67706, @ about $200.00.

Have you removed the adjusting screw from the defective solenoid you have, and seen what's in there? That type of solenoid has a needle COMPLETELY inside the solenoid, forced shut by a spring, when the solenoid is deactivated, and pulled out against the adjusting screw, when the solenoid IS activated.

If you have the little needle, it should function somewhat along with the external adjustment screw, IF the spring has been removed that forces it closed. Or, did they remove the needle, as well?

Key # 17, in the first drawing, is the INTERNAL stuff in the solenoid you have, part # AT31442, @ 63.00, NOT a REAL cost-effective way to get your "dead" solenoid working in manual mode IF those parts are missing from yours.

Kent, I think my solenoid is for the carb that your needle valve is for, hopefully I'll get to my brothers this weekend to look. Otherwise the wrong one. chris

You guys are great. No, I have not yet gotten to Zenith, as you suggested, but I will. Did Zenith buy Marvel-Schebler, or otherwise what is the Zenith connection to MS? I will examine my solenoid and see if the needle is intact and whether it might function as a 'manual' valve after all.

Thanks, guys, I do appreciate your time and help. I'll keep you posted.
