Need help with tractor ID

Hi, I just got a new "toy" and I am not sure exactly what it is. Its an old Ford N of some type. I hope you guys can help.

It has the Funk conversion on it, has a flat head six engine with a side mount distributor, four speed tranny. It doesn't have the Ferguson emblem on the grill. On the block it says, 7HA6015-B and then spaced a little bit away from that is a 9.

I tried to post pics of it but I guess my membership is too new or something.

I hoping to restore this tractor and it would really help to know what kind of old Ford N it is.

Your membership has nothing to do with it, you'll get the hang of it. You have a Ford 8N, after the Ford/Ferguson handshake deal went bad in 1947. Ford started making HIS tractor, the 8N and Jubilee , the 8N in 1947, as a 1948 model. Thus 8N. I think!! Have fun and welcome to the site.

Well it showed the pics when I previewed it and then when I hit post, a window popped up and said that my memebership was either to new or had been to inactive for to long and that it wouldn't allow me to make a post with images in it.

Its in pretty bad shape, the guy who owned it had gotten a brand new tractor and left this one to sit covered in weeds for 6 years. When I inquired about it, he said if I could get it out of there, it was mine. To say the least, I got it hauled home real quick.

Well from the picture its a later model 8N with the funk add on. With out the engine that was in it new its hard to tell what year it is for sure. Now if you crawl under the rear end area theres a date code there that will tell you about what year it is. The serial number for those tractors where stamped on the engine and since it has been swapped for the other engine there went the serial number. I would say from the picture its probably a late 1950 to 1952. They changed the wheels and a few other things in late 1950 on those tractors. Also I wouldn't push it to hard because that funk conversion can be hard on the tranny and rear end

Thanks for the reply. The guy said he had replaced the rearend not long before he parked it. What does the funk do to the rearend? This is my first tractor, so any advice you have is welcome.

Tomorrow when there is some light out there, I will crawl under there and have a look.

The Funk conversion gave the poor little under powered P.O.S.
way more power and speed than the rest of the driveline could
handle, especially with a "cowboy" driver. Interesting
conversion, that made the little Fords powerful enough to use
the equipment that strangled the four cylinder original motor.

You mention that it was too much for the original 4 cyl that was in it, will it be as big a problem with the 6 that mine has in it? Not that I intend to be a "cowboy" driver, I just want to make sure I take care of it in the best way possible.

We had a neighbor who owned one of those back in the 50,s. Did some deep breaking with it.I also know where one is parked.You guessed it , NOT FOR SALE.
