Need help with zerks....

I got a couple of 1/4 " zerks missing from the back hitch on my D-17. When I tried to thread new ones in they stripped out. When they were in however, i tried to grease, and pumped, then they popped out.

Soooooooo, hows about the best way to fix this and get it right?

Thanks a bunch

I have went oversize and also tack welded standard size in stripped hole. Both worked well, you could also heli-coil the holes which would probably be the most proper way. Best of luck.

Before you replace the zerk CLEAN the hole!!!, use a small drill to get the dirt out and then squirt some of your favorite penetrant in to loosen what you couldn't dig out, then pump it FULL of grease.

If all else fails go to a good implement or auto
parts store where they have a good selection of
zerks. You can get"drive in styles" in several
sizes or otherwise you may have to retap. Chuck

THE ZERKS MAY BE OF THE TAP IN TYPE.LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE THREADED,BUT THEY ARE NOT. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS APPLIES TO AC TRACTORS.
