Have a 79 dodge van with a plast. gas tank, some time in the past the ex. pipe rubed and wore a hole in it, also melted it. been trying to glue a patch over it tryed pvc cement that worked for a month, try fiberglass body putty that held for 2 hrs. Can't find any glue at the auto parts stores round here that will work on that plast. tank. any ideas

Think RV, as in recreational vehicle. They have plastic holding tanks, and there are some products that will repair them.
Only other ideas is the platic welding which takes heat......which isn"t always the best way to repair something like a gas tank!
My first thought was "why on earth is he wasting his time on a 79 Dodge van" but hey, I tend to waste time and money on things that others would think I"m crazy for too......so I won"t judge!

Can't find a used one at a parts recycler? (Junk Yard)? I know it is probably not easy to replace, but sometimes you spend as much time trying to fix something as it would take to replace it. Just speaking from experience. Good luck.

Thanks for the idea bout the RV people. not a good picture but only one I have It is a 15 pass rust free 40,000 mile van that I use to haul Amish with

I sure get a kick out of Amish people, it's against their god to own an automobile, but their god will allow them to ride in one...

SURE Glad I don't have their god looking over me.

have you thought about having one fabricated from metal ? sounds like the van maybe worth it . should be able to reuse the fittings .

You would have better luck screwing a patch over it than using glue. Using nylon screws rather than metal and a cork gasket.

Actually you would be ahead of the game to call a junk yard checking for a different tank.

I used a sheet metal screw and an o ring on a steel tank. The rear tank on my Ford truck cost 108 bucks new .

They tend to distance them selves from some things.Add up your total auto costs some times. They dont have a different god than I have.I tend to lead a simple life my self.

So you don't think they have a different god !!!
well what the Bible says, is to Follow Jesus Christ, and if you don't, then you follow a different Jesus, says the Bible,

that my friend is a different god

the Amish follow what their Biship says, and not the Bible,,,
that is a Cult for sure....

I don't know how big a hole you are talking here but, I have a Stihl 029 Farm Boo chain saw that I had a hole and crack in the gas tank and I used JB Weld to plug it up. Has worked for years that way. JB seems to hold up to the gas, oil and dirt. Just a thought.

What happened to the pink beast????????

Your Pardened, but if you read the Bible, you will see that it says, IF you don't follow the Bible as it is written, and worship in a different way, your following a different god.

Oh I'v read The Bible or the word of god, only thing that kept Me going back in 85, I have seen the light and god's love, understand things about the world and people a lot better now.

me too.......learned not to trust someone that carries a bible around wherever they go and boasts about how religious they are.Or try to push their beliefs on someone else.....

Now Mr Nuts........., where is the pink van????
