Need some ideas. Part 2

Well I have a live trap set up right now. But this coon is/was smart. I have it baited with cat food in a little tuna fish can. Well he was sitting there on the out side and putting his paws in and was pulling the food out. I think I shot him but can't be 100% sure. I would have shot a couple more times but the gun jammed. Went and looked for blood but didn't see any. He did seem to roll over before he ran off so maybe I got him. I know I'll be going out a few more times tonight but will always have the gun in hand when I do so. I just hope it doesn't jam again. I'd use a shot gun but I don't want to mess up the trap

put plywood along sides of trap so he cant reach in that way he has to go in from door side ..

make a little tunnel with the trap at the en d it seems to work pretty well

Try an egg in the rear of the trap. Also, cover the live trap with brush or a blanket.

Try cheese, they love it. Put it under the trigger tray. That way they have a real hard time getting it from outside and no matter what, when they are inside, they will trip it.

Amen on the gun jam. My 10-22 was having a hard time and the neighbor turned me on to the problem and the solution. He seemed to think ot was gummed up behind the bolt. Now I am no gunsmith so I followed his recommendation and it worked. He said to pull the barrel and action out of the wood, clean everything you could see and then hose down around the bolt with wd-40. Keep pouring it to it till the black goo starts running out. Then dry and reassemble. It worked like a champ. I always thought I had kept it all real clean and this was a real eye opener. You should have seen the garbage running out of that action. This might not be the right path for a high dollar peice or a setimental keepsake, but it sure worked here. HTH Aaron
