New 861fluid change questions

Modern gas caps had a pressure/vacuum valve... with limits set for both..

And these caps are NOT for gravity feed systems. Gravity systems must have a vented cap!!! NO vacuum is tolerated.

Now how do we know that the supplier is not just using what ever cap is cheapest and most common???

Is it ok to mix brands of fluids? I have 5 gallon of one brand and 2.5-3 gallon of another didn't know if I could put the 5 gallon in the hydraulic and transmission then put the other brand in the rear end? This will most likley be just to get the tractor running good and sorted out then I would change them again. I can go buy all the same brand though it isnt a problem i was just trying to use up what i had

I put that question to my Valvoline rep and his answer was no. different oils use different additives, and not all additives are compatible. Not even within the same brand he told me.

I figured I couldn’t. Honestly trying to find a use for this stuff. It was a $2 auction purchase. Stuff is like $50 per jug. Going to call a couple places tomorrow and see if they have it or can get it

Sounds like you want to use this as a flush, with a change a short time later. The specs on the jug look ok for your need, use it, as long as the jug(s) were sealed. If it wasn't sealed or is a part jug, are you sure it has the original product in it, and was not being used as a carrier for another oil/fluid?

While the additives may not be 100% compatible in a true sense to the oil scientists, the reality is there are likely thousands of tractors running mixed brands of oil/fluid every day without issue. This will be better than running an oil/fluid with water in it or using diesel fuel for such. JMHO

Yes sir I was wanting to put it in and that way it had fresh fluid while I tuned the tractor up and got it going good. Then I will be changing it again. I was thinking that maybe this would clean out some old gunk etc before I out new good stuff in it. And the tractor would probably only be moving in and out of the shop not really working hard or anything

It also has the spin on oil filter. Any special one that is better to use? It has a sparex one on it now.
I’m guessing it is set up for the Ford FL1A filter. You can use that or Baldwin, or WIX brands among others that are popular and well built.

Thank you. I am not too wild about the spin on filters. Always felt it was a solution looking for a problem
Catridge filters went the way of the dinosaurs many years ago due to the superiority of spin-on filters, especially in reducing the manufacturers warrantee claims
