new engine break in

let it run 20 minutes at high idle to break the cam in correctly then pull the snot out of it at the pulls and enjoy.

We also change the oil and filter right after cam brake in. I have always been told that assembly lube plugs oil filters.

I usally take it easy on a new motor as to get the rings seated and everything worn in.

Having a dyno helps because a little load can be applied to aid in brake in.

Just the way i do it .....

I was told one day by a old farmer that when they put a new motor in they would throw a plow on it . He said they wouldn't set it deep , but just enough to make it work .

I've been told by a former Deere mechanic that standard procedure after overhaul was to warm it up to operating temp on dyno and then shut it off(without cool-down) and walk away untill next day. He claims they never had any issues.
