New Holland starting problem

I have a New Holland 5610 diesel with starting problems. Just recently, it has started the following: When I crank it, engine fires but when I return key to run position, dies. Replaced the fuel cutoff solenoid without success. If I wire solenoid directly to battery (12.5 volts), runs fine-when running, if disconnect this jumper, still runs fine. When cranking, this solenoid only seeing about 9-10 volts. Suggestions, please.

The solenoids hould be energized when ever the key is in the START and RUN positions.
The voltage is down when cranking because the battery voltage naturally drops when you energize the starter. Do you have any safety interlocks that are tied to the solenoid system, like a seatswitch and a PTO switch, etc? I don"t have a good reason for the solenoid valve remaining "open" with no power to it unless it is sticky.

Are you stating that with jumper wire disconnected and ing switch off it continues to run?

When it quits... check the voltage on the wire... If you don't have 12V, follow it back until you do. Could be a bad switch. May also be a relay in there somewhere... I'm not really sure on that model.
SInce you've already replaced the solenoid then it's likely that it's not the problem...

Check All the fuses. Had a 4630 a while back doing the same thing. The fuse was blown for the manifold preheater. Hope this helps.
