New hydraulic hose oozing through outer rubber layer?

I know this question sounds bizarre, but has anyone ever heard of a new hydraulic hose that is defective and oozes oil through the outer rubber layer? I replaced a hose on my Ford 755/4500 backhoe and still had a leak. I thought it was just a loose connection so tightened those up, but oil kept dripping off the hose. I checked to see if a neighboring hose was leaking on it, but that wasn't happening. After carefully checking, it seems that oil is just appearing on the hose, about 1 ft from an end and running down to a low point where it drips off. I've checked over and over again because it seems so bizarre. So, is it possible that the hose is just defective that way? It's a generic brand (pre-made) that I bought from an online tractor parts dealer. Thanks for any expertise.

Well I actually have seen this problem several times in the past few years. Last one was a Kubota BX series power steering hoses. I just think it is like everything else that quality went out the window.

Used to be when a hose leaked it was pretty clear as it was chewed up really bad. I've even had some really old ones on backhoes really chewed up with wires showing still not leaking.

I got a panic call from our hose supplier one day. They had just discovered that somehow their shop had used "buttermilk hose" with a plastic inner lining to make up our large hydraulic hoses.

We had shipped just a few machines with those hoses on, but didn't know which ones. I would get calls that the hoses were leaking through the outer surfaces of the hose after the plastic lining broke down.

Of course, chunks of plastic ended up plugging the suction screen of the hydraulic tank. Those hoses leaked just like a "weeping" garden hose. So the supplier might have used the wrong hose material in the factory.

Two brand new hoses, each on a brand new JD 1720 planter, with pinholes in them, in the exact same spot.

If you purchase a 500 foot reel of 1/2 ID, 2
wire hose, the tag, or label will state that it
is NOT a 500 foot solid piece, but will consist
of not more than 4 sections, and give the length of the shortest and longest pieces. That is because the hose is flaw inspected during the
manufacturing process. When a flaw or bad place is encountered, the manufacturing line is stopped
the flaw cut out, and the line restarted. Still
errors can occur, and it's usually a pin hole
in the inner liner, that, will appear like sweat
or weaping. It can occur with any brand, though
not often with premeium brands such as Aeroquip,
but more likely with generic brands.Farm stores,
chain stores, hardware stores will most likely
purchase generic, premade hoses from the lowest
bidder.

I bought a couple of pre made hoses from an online vendor because they were fairly inexpensive. I soon found out why when the same thing happened, they leaked right through the rubber. So, not only did I not save money, I had to then have good hoses made up locally. Lessons learned.

I would call the company that sold them you don't want to get hit with high pressure hydraulic fluid. I would find a hydraulic shop that makes hydraulic hoses like Colliflower we have that makes them while you wait if they're not busy. They may be only here on the East coast. You may need double braided hoses. Hal

I really appreciate all of the responses. At least I know now that this problem is possible. Unfortunately, these particular hoses are a real nightmare to change. I finally found the purchase details ([i:beef496da1]Not sure why link was blocked. Part #D8NND558EA at Gl*mco Tractor Parts[/i:beef496da1]). It looks like TISCO is the manufacturer.
