New MF tractors

In the market for a new tractor, 85-100Hp. I noticed today while working on the neighbors new 2615 MF that the power source is a Simpson, made in India. NOT a PERKINS, is the case on the 583, 596, 5460 ect? I have not looked at one, just considerig options. Thanks, Erik

not sure if it is all the way through the line, but i would consider Challengers if i were in the market for something new. Made by AGCO i believe, just like the MF's and either have a SISU diesel (finnish>very good) or the larger ones have Caterpillar diesels, which depending on size very likely could be just a rebadged perkins. Of course the really small ones have some other maker, might be a simpson, but you want pretty large anyhow.

The MF 2615 has the Simpson engine because it is the MF economy line. The 2600 Series comes off the same line in Korea as all other brands series that are economy utility tractors such as the JD, NH TTa, Mahindra, Montana....etc (look up LS Cable a Hyndai Corp. on wikipedia.) All other MF tractors have the SISU or Perkins designs. New Holland is using IVECO, and Deere what ever is cheaper.. Catipillar owns Perkins now and uses alot of their designs. Unfortunately Cat learned the hard way about dealing in Comuunist China because the companies there that built some Perkins engines for them are now still building them without license or authority and selling them to companies of cheaper tractors in grey markets and Cat will not honor them for warranty.

m f 2600's are totally built in India.all of the cat challenger tractors are just re-badged massey's.what we were told is that the Indian gov't will not allow a company to own the majority of a plant unless they are Indian so the simpson came about . it is a partnered deal with Prkins which is now owned by Cat.these tractors are built out of the old castings that came when they shut down Doncaster plant in England. somebody may know more but we have been a Massey dealer for years. have a great day

You can buy brand new MF 240 tractors here. They are made in Pakistan. Our own factory in Coventry that used to make them has closed down!
