On Monday I picked up a Case SC at a local consignment auction. My family already has a collection of Case tractors but this is the first one I can call my own. The tractor possibly was sold new through my family's dealership. It's a 1941 model, and it has several of the early features of the series such as the solid rear wheel centers, deep clamshell fenders, original steering wheel design, and a motor lift. It's not among the earliest of the production run though because it has the ribbed engine block and offset exhaust. The sides of the hood also have the bolt holes for the chrome strips that the first year of production had, but I'm not sure if this particular unit would have had them originally. It will be a slow restoration, but will be a lot of fun I'm sure.

I am curious, did you pick that up at the S.C.R.A.P. auction last Monday. I looked at it and was interested but could not make it to the auction. Do you mind telling what you paid for it? Have fun with it.

HB, What did the 970, the other sc and of course the one row corn picker go for? The picker was my dads and he sold it years ago. Did not make the sale but I did see things. You will have a great project ,like to see it when completed.
Jerry from Oak Harbor.

Growing up my dads 41sc was like this one with
side exhaust. His was "hopped up" with an lp head.
We pulled 2 18s with it, it would plow one acre per
hour

Yes the tractor came from the S.C.R.A.P. auction in Gibsonburg, we go to the show and sale every year. I paid $400 for it, which was as high as I was going to go. Still was reasonable though in my mind, although getting tires eventually will be very pricey (all four are flat).

Jerry, the 970 struggled to sell for $3,400. It was a 1973 model that was sold new through Henry Equipment, my family's dealership. It seemed in pretty good shape generally, it was located fairly close to us. An IH 1206 without a cab (and rougher paint) almost right next to it sold for about $9,000 go figure. The other SC (a 1942 model) sold for $650 if I remember correctly, and the owner bought it back. The Case picker sold for $65. I was tempted to bid on it but didn't have anywhere to store it. Had I know the connection ahead of time I probably would have brought it home! There was also a repainted Case three-bottom Centennial plow that I was told went for $350.

When da bought the picker it came from the Genoa store if I remember correctly. Dad never let it sit outside when not in use. It was said to see it in that shape , just hope it went to a good home. Thank you for the up date , maybe some day we will meet. Jerry
