New Shop Build

Building a Wood Frame 25x35 shop in my back yard. Would like to partition off a single car garage area with workbenches, and make the rest open shop.I'll have a 6 inch thick slab that will be painted/sealed, spray foam insulated, mini-split hvac, i-beam trolley with chain hoist in gable of roof, (2) 8 ft. swing out doors on gable end that go to bigger area of shop, (1) 8 ft garage door on the other end (side) that goes to the single partioned space. Building will be used to work on and restore small tractors, VW kit car, old pickup, etc.

Any ideas on layout of the space with "tools & stuff" ?

Would like ideas on creating an open but partitioned area for a computer desk/office to look up parts, keep up with projects, and edit videos for my YouTube channel.

Because of dust etc, I would make any office area so you can completely close it off with a door etc. Dust and computers do not mix.

I thought about making it part of the "single car" garage bay with work benches. Just curious on how to lay it out so I don't waste space but make it partioned off still. Maybe I might should build yet another wall to make an "office"; I just feel like that wastes space....

My opinion, if open to the "garage" part or the shed part you'll get a lot of dust. I'd want an "office" area to be as clean as possible.

I wish I had a program on computer to draw the shed plan to scale and then insert scale sized toolboxes, benches, tractor, and other stuff in the shed to see what will fit and how it will look. Sort of a mock-up. Know of anything? ?

8 ft doors are going to be small for most things. My garage has 9' doors and my f350 mirrors touch the seal on both sides going through

I would build it with 14 to 15 ft walls and put in a second floor. The property taxes are based on square footage not cubic feet.
I planned on plenty of ventilation. Eve vents and ridge vents.
Windows all the way down both sides for plenty of natural light.
I built workbenches the full length on both sides. With 2 shelves above the work benches.
10 X10 overhead door.

For all you want. A shop 25'x35' (24'x36' would be more practical) would not have much room.

Take 16x16 minimum out of the floor plan for the one car garage. That leaves you with just a 19'x35' shop with a 6'x16' might as well say a hallway.

Or 35'/2 = 17' 6". You will have a 17'6"x25' garage and a 17'6"x25' shop.

You may have trouble finding 25 or 35' rafters.

Any chance for a loft office? Keep you out of traffic and dust. Could even use an outside staircase to save indoor space. If you are building post framed, you can get attic trusses that keep the center open. Mine is similar, with truss pairs at the posts and purlins on the roof. The webs on the trusses allow me to walk between the clear space in between the truss pairs.

Construction paper cut outs at a scale on a grid are pretty easy to play around with for what fits. Not too good for printing out.

By the pix it looks like you are well on your way with it. If you are like me you don't have unlimited funds anyway so all the replies for build it bigger don't work. In my opinion a bunch of walls just make it feel smaller and make it harder to use. I would keep large openings even if you need interior support. For me I would rather have an open feeling space rather than dust free space. Enjoy it!

Go 16-18 ft high. office and extra tool storage upstairs on top of garage section. doesn't cost much more to go up and get double the floor space in that area. 10 ft door as others said.

DO NOT even think about portioning it all up too small mine is 30X30 well insulated and min-split cools and heats the thing perfect

Use sticky notes cut into the shapes. that way you can lay it upside down on your printer/scanner.
