Newbe questions

Getting ready for first antique tractor pull. I have a 1940 John Deere B and wondered if someone could answer these dumb newbee questions for me.

1. I.E 3000 poind class. does the tractor have to weigh 3000 pounds or can you enter light,, say 2800?

2. Have not had time or money to replace one older tire with 70-80% wear. (do not expect to win this year just fun and experience) will this make the tractor want to push to the right since my left tire has much better tread?

Thank for any help you can offer!!

Weight=
Class weight limits are "not greater than" That is with driver seated.
Tires=
You can compensate if needed by adjusting air pressure from one side to the other.
You're right...just go have fun and learn all you can from the "older" guys, experiment, try your own things. You just might surprise someone.

As a new puller myself I offer this, keep a notebook with where you put the weights, how much tire pressure and what the track conditions are, That way when you experiment you know what worked and what did not and can always go back to refresh your memory. Don't be afraid to ask questons either at the track or online someone somewhere will help you out. After all what fun is pulling if there is no one to compete against. I don't mind getting beat and it is more exciting when it is only inches or a couple of feet. Good luck and have fun...
