Can you run a 850 NH round baler with 1 bar missing or am I asking for trouble ? I got a little patch I want to get up tomorrow , Ive got one ordered but wont be here till Wens. ; ??????

I have a 848 and I bent one bar. The New Holland dealer told me that it wouldn't hurt to run it with one missing while the new bar was shipped. I baled about 20 acres before putting in the new one.

My 848 is a smaller baler than yours, so may be different. Your dealer should be able to tell you.

I was surprised to find out how cheap a new bar would be. Seems it was only $10 - $12 or so.

Yep you can do so but do not push it as hard as you might if it had all of them or at least that is how I would do it. Me I would prefer to make 10 smaller bales and get them all done then to make 7 bigger ones and brake it real bad. But I do not push my baler much past the 3/4 full point unless I have just a little bit more hay and I hope it will make it

Old , you are always telling us your bales are 6 ft. tall and wieght 2000 pound , now your saying you dont bale past 3/4 full . Dose your 850 make a 6 ft. 2000 pound bale at 3/4 full , if you went to the full mark they would be 8 ft. and weight a ton and a half !! That 850 you got is one bad cat !!

AMEN buddy you must have also noticed he stated the other day he had a 6X6 baler.

Old knows the bundles weigh a TON(2000#s) because his OLD FORD tractor will just barely pick them up.

Oh by the way since you so smart why is it I can pick up a car with it that says on the door 25XX lbs but the bales cause me to have a rear tire come up off the ground. Never did say the hyds where not strong enough to lift the bales but I have a rear tire off the ground problem and that is with fluid in the tires and a back blade with 6-85lbs suit case weights on the blade and about 150lbs wheel weight on the center link hook up so yes my bales even at 3/4 are very heavy

You are the one who doesnt know is a$$ from a hole in the ground. My Dad ran had a few NEW NH 850 balers in his day and the heaviest the bale got was around 1400 lbs, it it was wetter than wet. Only made three bales like that cause he had a small field left and it was going to rain. By the way if you think the old Diamond T trucks ride as good as a current day air ride truck than that right there shows how smart you are.

Old is so full of it. There is now way in hell he can get them that heavy. If he wants to have a big boner over a chain baler than let him. Ask him how many bales he makes a year........lol

You got caught in a lie and you try to make me out to be the bad guy !! When you say one thing then turn around and say another your gona get called on it .

I never weighed one fellas but an 850 puts ALOT of hay in a bale ; theyre heavy !!! Id say 1500- 2000 lbs !!!

Sorry to say all I wanted to do was help but there are people on here that do not understand help with picking a D.A.V. But yes they can be heavy and if you make the mistake of using to low a gear and that in turn is low ground speed one can make one heck of a heavy bale and yes in the 2000lbs plus range but few will believe that

I thought you and I had it out long ago but to bad your not going to let it rest. I am on here to help others but if you want to pick on me so be it all I do it try to help others but how does this help any body??????????????????????????? Sorry if I offend you

You know I post here to help as much as I can and I do not understand why you have to pick on me just because you do not see eye to eye with me. Sorry if I offend you but I try to help but how does this help any body. I do not see how this childish picking on each other helps any body do you?????????
Sorry if I have done you wrong in some way I ty not to so please stop trying to hurt or pick on me I do not do so to you

I personally don't see how doubting if you can make 2000 lb bales of "dry hay" with a NH chain baler and no hyd pressure is picking on you.

Originally I asked if you'd weighed a bale on a weight scale and you stated NO but that your tractor struggled to raise them.

In the future I will have no further comment on this subject to you and please accept my apology.Jim

I got my book out last night. It says 900 to 1500 Maximun. I know dad got one of the first 850 in Iowa, he sold hay over a state certified scale and never had a bale over 1500 out of it.
