nh 851 round baler

Wondering if i can get some hydrolic advice on my baler. When i get about one third of a bale made in the baler, the back door will start to drift open. It does not do this all the time but it does happen often. I have to keep hitting the lever to make sure the door stays closed. I changed tractors and it still does this, so i think it is something with the baler. Do i need to repack my cylinders on the baler? Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you all for your time.

My 850 did the same thing. The guys on this forum told me to replace the seals in the tailgate cylinders and they were dead on. I had my local NH dealer to the job. You really need a long hone to clean the bores properly.

Good Luck!

Most likely the cylinder seals are starting to leak and that is why it is doing that. My 850 did that a couple years ago and I rebuilt the bad cylinder and it worked a week till the other cylinder starting leaking. So rebuild them both or the problem will come back fast.
