Ok guys this rake is for sale locally and it needs work which is pretty obvious and before I go look at it I'd like to know what model it is? Looking for a cheap backup rake to toss along the fence just in case I need it.

Nothing about that looks familiar to me, like its not a NH? But I
might be out of touch with the more modern models.

I am with Paul! I am not sure its a New Holland. New Holland are shaft & gearbox driven. The one pictured looks like it has a chain drive sprocket on the axle, & the shield behind the axle... What the heck is that? The round disc bar holders are not round on a New Holland either. They are on an IH though! Go to "tractorhouse.com" look up New Holland 55, 56, & 256 models, & IH rakes, & You will see what I mean. But I am not saying it is an IH either!

Didn't look NH to me either. As far as I can remember NH rakes all had "star" wheels holding the bars up and not round wheels like that one. That's why I asked.

Hi, That is not a New Holland (at least not a US
built one). Painted to look like a NH. We sold NH
from 1940 till in the 90's. Wonderful rakes.

I you are going to get an old rake. Get one that parts are readily available for. New Holland is # 1 in that trait . Aftermarket and factory.

That looks exactly like a Cockshutt 311 rake. I used to have one and it looked identical to the one you have pictured. All the NH rakes I have seen had 2 cranks to raise/lower each side of the basket.

Ok thanks guys that crosses it off my list.

If I end up buying an old backup rake it will be a NH as I have a few good dealers around.
