Nick's 8N restoration

The red looks like it could be correct. It is not the type of paint that I prefer to use. For me it comes down to how much time I put into the prep. Implement paint is fine for a five hour prep. but not a fifty hour job.
Tell me more please. I have never painted a tractor. If there are better options, I’m all ears. I have a spray gun, hardener and reducer ready to paint my wheel centers but if it will be crap then Id rather spend more on something else. Everything will be blasted and primed before paint

On another note, check this out. Not sure how I stumbled upon it, but apparently VanSickle has a custom mixed color for the 8Ns. Wish I would have noticed this BEFORE I bought a gallon of the other stuff.....

Just to report back what my experience was, I ended up ordering the "custom Iowa match" 8N gray and it IS different than the other formula that they are trying to peddle but is not correct for 8Ns. This color looks to be correct. I gave my wheel centers a first coat and the color seems right on. Will post photo once I give them another shot.

Finally got the second coat of paint on my wheel centers. Had a nice few weeks with unusually low humidity here. Got the centers bolted back on the rims this morning. Turned out pretty nice. Not perfect, but way better than before. I need to practice how to get a nice even smooth coat of paint on things

When you get older, too old to drive classic cars and they take your drivers license away because you can't see well enough, or have a medical condition which gives them a reason to say you cannot drive.

I will point out that a tractor can be driven to town without a drivers licence.

So you are making a distinction without a difference, classic tractors can be used as you would a classic car when you become a classic driver.
Ha!! I've been driving my tractors to town, since I was a teenager! I'm now in my 60s..
It's only ten miles from my farm.. enjoyable drive on the country roads. Zero traffic..
I'm restoring a old Farm wagon that was in the scrap ditch, for the last 35 years.
I'll pull it with my 8n

Yes, lots of memories with it. I've already spent twice the value of the entire tractor just on tires and rim restoration. It's also going to need one of everything else too, but it's been in the family for 60 years, so what's a guy gonna do?
mine a naa stopped running, its getting weak fire. i want to jump to the coil from the battery to see if that is the problem what post to what post on my naa 6v should i jumper?

It would be best if you would start your own thread when you have questions about your tractor. Your Ford NAA questions would be addressed best on the Ford forum. To start your own thread go to the Ford forum in the Manufacturers section and click on it. At the top is a rectangular “New Post” button, click that to start a thread.
If you have a points ignition (not an electronic ignition) you will want to jumper from small post on the coil that does not have the wire to the distributor on it… to the… battery terminal that does not connect to the chassis(ground). If you have electronic ignition you best hold off until you tell us if your tractor is 6 or 12 volt and whether it is negative or positive ground. Remember, with a jumper wire on it if it starts you will only be able to shut it off by removing the jumper.
