No Go under load

Just got a TO-35 from my neighbor not too long ago and it runs like a top. So I figured I would put the ol 3-point ferguson hay rake on it and go about my business. It died, and continued to die under load. It acts like it"s not getting enough gas. I checked the fuel filters, every one of them including the small one in the line by the carb, and everything checked out. What could I be missing?

Put tractor in neutral, brakes locked.Open throttle to maxuum RPMs and adjust main jet for maxuum RPMs.See if that helps if you have not done it yet. CENTAUR

If all else fails the problem is in the body of
the sediment bowl assy. Remove the sediment bowl
and soak overnite in carb cleaner. Or replace-
they are not terribly expensive. First make sure
the carb has been soaked at least overnite in a
carb clean bucket of solution. Both these area's
get "limed". A carb. clean is not sufficient w/o
a good soak if it has been some years. Good luck,
Chuck

Make sure that you have FAT, BLUISH-WHITE SPARK!
Pull the centerwire out of the distributor, hold it near a good ground, turn on the ignition and try a start. You should here a loud snap as the distributor fires the coil and see a FAT,BLUISH-WHITE SPARK. If you don't, look to the points and make sure they are not corroded, oily, dirty, etc and are set correctly. Make sure that you have battery voltage to the battery side of the coil and that the wire from the distributor to the coil is connected to the coil terminal with the same sign as the battery ground. Make sure that you have battery voltage across the key switch when it in the run position. Make sure all the wiring connections are "bright and tight".

If you have the requisite FAT,BLUISH-WHITE SPARK, then make sure that your timing is correct and that your advance system is working as it should and you have the correct timing order (1-3-4-2-the distributor rotates CCW).

If all that checks out, then look to your fuel delivery and the carb mixture adjustment.
