Transmission locking up and no couplers on the final drive shafts means it does not roll very well at all! My grain harvest for this year is over.We cut half as much as we did last year and it took twice as long.Lots of muddy bottoms and getting stuck 8 to 10 times a day is no fun at all.Nobody will average anything close to last year and this year will put a bad taste in some farmers mouths for sure. All my combines are back home and now I can move on to getting ready for corn. One good thing about my season is that all three combines were in great shape going in to the season and I had to spend VERY little on them before grain. The 20' head I rebuilt last year now has two seasons on it and I have had to do absolutely nothing to it(not even a sickle section).I looked it over yesterday and it is good to go for season three without costing me a dime.Looks like this may be a slim year for us here custom harvesting. There is not nearly as much corn and probably will be a LOT less sorghum with the price like it is.I am thankful everyday that I haven't got a new combine with a huge payment. My old beaters are old and ugly but they get the job done and are paid for.I really feel for the ones with new machines trying to pay for them with $5.80 wheat and a 40bpa average.I hope everyone else has a great harvest with no mud!
