Not Pretty, But It Works

Had originally plumbed the return from the live pump to the fill pipe. That didn't work even a little bit 'cause it pressured up the extension tank.

So, I ran it right back to a "T" at the intake down at the belly. Not legal I know, but that sure cured the ol' sis. :>)

Just cleaned out the tank real good and slapped 'er on there. Hope it works.

Question for Allan: What kind and type of camera do you use for these pictures? They are always so sharp/focused, properly exposed, and obviously easy to transfer to the computer. Would appreciate your response! I'm still living with the 35mm film camera- - -.

Other than your auxilliary tank on top it now looks exactly like ours that I tried to describe in an earlier post when you started the project. Our friend plumbed it that way, galvanized Tee and all, well over fifty years ago and to say the 1950 M has done a lot of work over the years would be an understatement.
Ours has worked just fine an I anticipate that yours will too.

It should work fine but there are two issues you need to consider.

1. By returning the oil directly to the hydraulic pump you may encounter overheated oil if the the hydraulics are used heavily because you will no longer have the reservoir to help cool the oil.

2. By not returning the oil to the reservoir first, any dirt that enters the system from hydraulic couplers will go directly to the pump rather than having a chance to settle on the bottom of the reservoir. A return line filter would be a easy remedy for this problem.
