Now here's a handy dandy tool idea

Its almost Halloween, so I turn on the TV and on is one of those Friday The 13th movies. I've never really seen them, but heard about them. So anyway, there's that guy Jason running around a dark woods killing people because thats what he does to make the movies interesting, but he just used a tool on someone that I've never seen before, not ever. He had a weed wacker, but instead of string like I and most folks use, his had like a 10" circular saw blade. Now that, in the hands of a sane person not running around with an old hockey mask, could be a real handy dandy tool. Just think what you could do with that thing. A circular saw with at least a 4 foot extension. And just think if your weed eater had a worm gear motor on it. Think how good that would be.

Now don't be making fun of me, afterall, who in the world ever thought 20 years ago that battery powered drills would ever drill through foot thick concrete walls like a 36V Hilti can?

Don't none of you be stealing my idea of a weed eater worm drive circular saw that I stole from that Jason guy.

Hate to burst your bubble, but it's been doone for like 20 years, now. Just google brush cutter blade, there are many different kinds, including a blade that has chainsaw teeth around the edge.

There was a Comet Power Scythe back in the 1960's that predated all the string trimmers.

It had a metal blade for cutting weeds, and a circular saw blade for cutting saplings.

So, you're saying that someone stole my idea 20 years before I stole it from Jason? That just aint fair. Well, back to the drawing board for another get rich scheme.

But before I drop this idea, has anyone called it "The Wonder Saw", and shown it in commercials cutting hard to get to places like while standing on a roof's edge? And if you buy within the next 20 minutes, will they toss is a second one for the same low price of just $19.95? We're not talking weed eater here. We're talking about something that only looks like a weed eater, called "The Wonder Saw".

Mom built a ne house back in 1984. She bought a Weed Eater brand model tha =t came with the saw blade accesory even then. That is 25 years ago, and I don t think the blade was anything new at that time.

There was an aftermarket item that I thought was neat. It was a replacement spool head that had two pieces of chainsaw chain on it, insted of the normal plastic line.

My son has a stil with a saw blade, fell off the roof with it, if he hadn't hit the electric wires it would have killed him for sure! I sometimes wonder how he is still living!

I adapted an old Homelite weed whipper to run a 7 1/4 inch saw blade. Works, but needs a guard of some sort. Can be dangerous if not properly handled. Stihl and others make similar machines. Look 'em up.

The DR. walk behind string trimmer has a blade sort of like that but it has what looks like a chain from a chain saw on it and the company says you can cut down a 6 inch tree with that set up. I have one hanging on the wall of my shop even

I have a triangle type blade on my gas powered weed trimmer, it works okay for small saplings. But I have never put a circular saw blade on it. My land is cleared out the way I want it now, just massive cleanup in the back, of sticks, brush and dead elm/ash trees.

McCulloch had the weedwacker with either a 10" brush blade or tri-blade grass cutter attachment. The attachment shaft would attach to a Mac chainsaw (1-40 & 50 series and 200/250/300 series) powerhead. So instead of having separate chainsaw and weedwacker engines, you have one powerhead with 2 different functions. You could also buy a 6' and 12' pole saw attachments and earth augers also for the same saw. Oh, and this was back in 1962. Possibly earlier, but I'm not completely sure.

Hi old, It's the beaver blade for the DR trimmer. I posted on it a while back. Tried it on the ryobi weed whacker after finding some washers. Tried cutting a stump and it would cut for a little ways then want to kick out as it was hard to control and hold steady from above. Put it back on the DR trimmer to cut on some stumps but it doesn't cut below ground level so not much help there. Need to keep a 3/16" saw file handy. Have to look again to check the arbors. As I recall, the weed whacker uses 3/8" for which a 5" to 5.5" battery circular saw blade will fit. Didn't try it though as all the big ragweeks have died. May try it on some milo stalks for the heck of it. used to have a triple prong weed whacker blade but it is playing hide and go seek in the garage or barn. They seem to sprout legs and walk off.

Neighbor gave me a rig just like that.Never used it.Sid Mercer had a saw on 2 wheels that he cut brush and small trees with.
