numbers on a B

I know what the numbers mean in front of the shifter. Mine is a "42 B, #59917 There is also a set of numbers behind the shifter. What do they refer to?

Jeff, I have a 42 b with numbers stamed there too. I have no idea why..

The numbers stamped into the casting by the shufter would be the serial number of the tractor. Where did you get the number you are refering to? The number on the engine is the engine number not the tractor s/n.
 
there are cast numbers 1-2-3-R for the gear shift pattern... where are your numbers relative to the shift pattern ?
 
I have already posted the tractor number above. on another slightly raised pad directly below the 3-R of the shift pattern are the numbers 102261B stamped in, not cast. I will try to take a pic soon.
 
Those #s for those of you that don"t know were Allis production change #"s. I know that"s sound silly but if a part was stamped but not used the books would reflect the change(s) made. If the rear was bad and was changed the # was then stamped below the shifter. Normally it would be a 4 or 5 diget number stamped in. It would alomost always be painted over and never seen. I know of just one other I"ve ever seen and had to ask a past worker from the AC plant to explain. It"s a rare find to have a factore rework tractor.
